英语句子翻译一个小知识点

than is fair是一个定语从句，than是关系代词充当主语成分

译：其他人持不同意见，他们认为那些成功的体育明星挣的钱比公平的高出许多。

eg:He drinks more than is healthy for his body.
他喝了太多酒，对他身体不好。（他不该喝那么多酒）

You spent more money than was intended to be spent.
你花的钱超出了原来的打算。

通常but和than是放在一起讲的。

eg:There is no man but feels pity for starving children.

= There is no man who does not feel pity for starving children
没有人不同情那些嗷嗷待哺的孩子

There is not one of us but wishes to help you.

= There is not one of us that does not wish to help you.
